Apple Pie

Peel, core, and slice a little thicker than 1/4 inch:

3 lbs apples ( 6 to 8 medium-large)

Measure 7 cups. In a very wide skillet or pot, heat over high heat until sizzling and fragrant:

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

Add the apples and toss until glazed with the butter. Reduce the heat to medium, cover tightly, and cook, stirring frequently, until the apples are softened on the outside but still slightly crunchy, 5-7 minutes. Stir in:

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teas. allspice

1/8 teaspoon salt

Increase the heat to high and cook the apples at a rapid boil until the juices become thick and syrupy, about 3 min. Immediately spread the apples in a thin layer on a baking sheet and let them cool to room temp.

preheat to 425

Pour apple mixture into the bottom of the crust. Brush the over hanging edge of bottom crust with cold water so you can seal the top crust to it. Place the top crust on and cut holes to vent. Bake until crust in browned and filling begins to bubble. 40 to 50 min.

You can make this pie using a pre-made pie crust. I make mine from scratch but did not post that. If you are interested in my pie crust leave a comment and I will post it.

Home Made Pizza and Breadsticks!

Crust

1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tsp salt

1 c water
3-3 1/2 c. flour ( I used all wheat and it worked fine)

1 tsp sugar

Sauce

1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 tsp oregano

1/2 c water
1/4 tsp garlic or onion powder

1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Dissolve yeast in warm water, stir in sugar, salt and 2 cups flour. Mix until smooth. Stir in enough flour to make dough easy to handle. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic. Roll Dough into a big flat circle. Make it pretty thin. Spread sauce over pizza and top it with cheese and any other desired toppings.

Double the Crust recipe if you want to make bread sticks. Cut the dough in half and use one half for pizza and one half for bread sticks. Roll the bread sticks into thin long sticks. Cover with butter or butter spray and sprinkle garlic salt on top. Cook in oven at 425 for 15 min.

Wheat Bread

Whole Wheat Bread

5 c. water
1/3 c. honey
1/3 c. molasses
2-3 T. yeast

2 T. salt
2/3 c. oil
3 c. whole wheat flour
(or part whole wheat and part white flour)

Dissolve yeast in water. Add all ingredients except flour. Gradually add flour until it makes a stiff dough. Cover and let rise until double in size. Shape into loaves and place in greased loaf pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 350ยบ for about 45 minutes.

NOTE- I would really use half wheat flour and half white. I made it with 100% wheat flour and it doesn't rise as high as I want.

Baked Mushrooms

Slice your mushrooms and spread them on a 1 inch deep cookie sheet. Add like 1/4-1/2 cup of water (just pour it over).
Top with parmesan cheese, or seasoned salt or whatever sounds good to you.
Bake on 350 degrees for 6 min and the broil for 5 more minutes

Cheesy Pasta Bake

Just as a fast side note I did not measure any of these ingredients, so just put in as much or as little of each as you would like
In a fry pan: brown hamburger with half chopped onion

Boil: small pasta ie: bow tie, swrilly, macaronni
when pasta is done boiling drain and pour back into pan

Mix in pasta pan: pasta, hamburger and Spegehtti sauce with seasonings you like (if you Love red sauce put in alot)

In a baking dish: pour in some of the pasta mixture and then some cheese, then pasta, then cheese (just make sure the last layer is cheese)

Bake: un covered on 350 for 20 minutes, or until cheese starts to bubble. I broiled mine for like 3 minutes before i took it out.

We also topped with parmesan cheese at the end!
